TRIPP KUNE DO

Self-Defense. Fitness. Confidence.
For Every Body.

WHAT IS TKD?

Tripp Kune Do (TKD) is a practical, accessible self-defense and fitness system built for real life, not just the dojo. We teach you to use your body's natural movements as tools to protect yourself and those around you against blitz attacks, escalations, and real-world threats. No fancy uniforms. No expensive equipment. No financial barriers.

TKD is for:

  • All ages & abilities: from kids facing bullying to adults navigating a crazy world
  • People with injuries or limitations: adapt, don't quit
  • Those seeking confidence, mobility & survival skills: fitness meets function
  • Anyone who believes self-defense should be FREE: no gym fees, no tuition
  • People who want to walk tall: head up, shoulders back, eyes aware

THE FFF METHOD

Three phases. One system. Same tools throughout.

🌱
Foundation
Learn mechanics slowly. Stretch range of motion. Master the "why" and "how" of each tool.
🌊
Flow
Pick up the pace. String tools together. Train ambidextrously. Practice scenarios rhythmically.
Fight
Apply with brutal purpose. Use improvised tools. Adapt to real combat scenarios. Make it second nature.

Why it works: Foundation builds the physical mechanics, shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, torso torque. Flow adds speed and chains tools together for real combat scenarios. Fight applies everything under pressure with environmental awareness, improvised tools, and ambidextrous deployment. Train slow to move fast when it counts.

We hope you never need this, but we prepare you anyway. TKD keeps it simple, keeps it safe, keeps it real. No rigid sequences. No "this always works." Just adaptable tools for unpredictable situations. Train for confidence, not ego. Prepare for reality, not the dojo.

"Absorb what is useful, discard what is not, add what is uniquely your own." — Bruce Lee

TKD IN PRACTICE

Train for confidence. Prepare for reality.

🔹 CORE PHILOSOPHY

🎯 The Why

We hope you never need this, but the world is unpredictable. TKD gives the average person the knowledge and confidence to defend themselves against blitz attacks, escalations, or threats in parking lots, public spaces, or at home. Training isn't just about survival, it's about fitness, mobility, and mental readiness for all ages. From kids facing bullying to adults navigating a crazy world: stay calm, stay aware, stay ready.

⚡ The When

When escape isn't safe. When running wastes energy you don't have. When attackers chase, corner, or bring weapons. When de-escalation fails and physical defense becomes necessary. Real-world scenarios: street attacks, home invasions, workplace violence, seated scenarios (bus, plane, car). If they attack you, they lose the privilege of mercy. Your job: get yourself and your loved ones home safe.

🛠️ The How

Same tools, three phases: Foundation (learn mechanics slowly), Flow (string moves together rhythmically), Fight (apply with purpose under pressure). Train ambidextrously because you never know which arm you'll have free, or use of due to injury. Use everyday items as improvised tools. Clock-face directions eliminate left/right confusion. Keep it simple, keep it real, keep it accessible—free basics for everyone.

💪 Confidence, Not Ego

Train to stand tall, look people in the eye, and know you won't be pushed around. This isn't about bullying or aggression, it's about being the person who protects when others can't. Situational awareness, environmental scanning, and breathing keep you calm so you see threats before they escalate.

⚠️ Brutality When Necessary

If someone attacks you, they forfeit mercy. This isn't a sport, there's no referee, no timer. Block to protect, then strike to stop. Knee blows, eye gouges, throat strikes: use whatever tool ends the threat fast. You don't have to enjoy it, but you must be willing to do what's necessary to get home safe.

🫁 Breathe & Compose

Adrenaline will spike. Your heart will race. Breathe—box breathing, 4-7-8 exhales, to stay calm and think clearly. After any incident: hand-check for injuries, stop any bleeding, then call 911 from a safe location. Always report the incident so you're not misidentified as the aggressor.

🔄 Adaptability Over Scripts

No rigid "1-2-3" sequences. Situations change, wet ground, slick shoes, holding a baby, narrow airplane aisle. Train to adapt: if a kick isn't available, throw a strike. If your right arm is injured, use your left. Practice falling safely. Stay fluid, stay ready.

Bottom line: We respect all martial arts. We encourage equipment training when possible. But lacking a dojo, gear, or money should never be an excuse for not being able to defend yourself. TKD keeps it simple, keeps it safe, keeps it real, so you have the tools when you need them most.

Official Safety & Legal Disclaimer

🤝 Partner Training Protocol

NEVER train at full speed or full power with a partner. Serious injury or death can occur. Control is non-negotiable.

🏥 Physical Limitations

Adapt tools to your injuries, but don't ignore the rest of your body. Consult a physician before beginning any exercise program.

⚠️ Liability Waiver

Tripp Kune Do, Sports Chicago Style, Tripp and Coach Tripping are not responsible for any injury, loss, or damage resulting from training these tools. You train at your own risk.

📜 Legal Responsibility

Self-defense laws vary by jurisdiction. Understanding technique does not grant legal immunity. You are responsible for knowing and following local laws.

📋️ Use of Force Standard

TKD tools are for defensive purposes only. Use proportional force. Stop when the threat ends. Do not let the attacker become the victim in the eyes of the law.

🚨 Post-Incident Protocol

Once safe → Practice 4-7-8 breathing → Perform physical hand-check for bleeding or injuries → Call 911 & file report → Document details while fresh.

THE TKD CLOCK SYSTEM

The TKD Clock System replaces confusing “left/right” cues with a universal 12-hour reference point. Visualize yourself at the center: 12 o’clock is forward (or up), 6 o’clock is rear (or down), 3 o’clock is right, and 9 o’clock is left. Diagonal positions (2, 4, 8, 10) map angled footwork and strike paths. On the floor, you pivot on the balls of your feet and rotate on your heels, moving clockwise or counterclockwise through a full 360°. Applied vertically, the same clock face guides strikes, blocks, and target angles. No matter your perspective or position, the clock gives you a clear, consistent language for movement and combat.

CLOCK DIRECTION KEY

🔹 TARGET SYSTEMS: TACTICAL DISRUPTION

TKD targets are organized by tactical function, not just body parts.
Each system disruption creates a specific advantage: blinding vision, stopping breath, destroying balance, or breaking structure.
Understand why & when to strike, not just where.

👁️ Vision & Orientation

Why it matters: If they can't see or track you, they can't effectively attack. Immediate sensory overload creates your escape window.

Primary Targets:
  • Eyes: Gouge, rake, or strike
  • Temples: Blunt force trauma
  • Ears: Cupped-hand slap (rupture)
  • Bridge of Nose: Disrupts vision/sinus
TKD Tools:
  • Fingers (jab/rake)
  • Palm heel (upward 6→12)
  • Hammer fist (2→8 or 10→4)
  • Elbow (horizontal 3→9)

️⚠️ Effect: Temporary blindness, disorientation, loss of tracking ability, can create 3-5 second window to escape, further tool deployment, or joint control.

😤 Respiratory & Airway

Why it matters: No breath = no fight. Airway disruption causes panic, involuntary retreat, and immediate fight-stopping effects.

Primary Targets:
  • Throat/Trachea: Crush or strike
  • Solar Plexus: Diaphragm spasm
  • Nose: Breaks → airway flooding
  • Mouth/Jaw: Disrupts breathing rhythm
TKD Tools:
  • Edge of hand (chop 2→8)
  • Front thrust kick (to solar plexus)
  • Palm heel (upward to throat)
  • Knee strike (if opponent bends)

⚠️ Effect: Gasping, choking sensation, involuntary backward movement. Solar plexus strike can cause "wind knocked out" effect (30-60 sec recovery).

🏃 Mobility & Balance

Why it matters: If they can't stand or chase, you've won. Destroy their base and they become a stationary target.

Primary Targets:
  • Knees: Side kick or stomp
  • Groin/Bladder: Upward strike
  • Ankles/Feet: Stomp or scrape
  • Hips: Disrupt stance
TKD Tools:
  • Heel stomp (12→6 downward)
  • Front kick (to knee/groin)
  • Side kick (lateral knee strike)
  • Low round kick (ankle/calf)

️⚠️ Effect: Collapse, inability to pursue, structural failure. Knee/Ankle destruction = reduced mobility.
Groin strike = involuntary doubling-over.

🤝 Joint Manipulation

Why it matters: Control without striking. Leverage and joint locks allow restraint, weapon disarm, or creating distance without permanent damage.

Primary Targets:
  • Wrist: Rotational locks
  • Elbow: Hyperextension
  • Shoulder: Rotation/pressure
  • Fingers: Individual manipulation
TKD Tools:
  • Grips & grabs (control points)
  • Leverage (body positioning)
  • Clock-angle rotation (4, 8, 10, 2)
  • Body weight application

⚠️ Effect: Pain compliance, weapon release, controlled restraint. Use when de-escalation is possible or law enforcement arrival is imminent.

⚖️ Legal & Ethical Use of Force

Proportional Response:

Match your target selection to the threat level. Vision/respiratory targets = fight-stoppers. Use only when facing serious bodily harm or death.

Stop When Safe:

Once the threat is neutralized (attacker down, fleeing, or surrendering), STOP. Continuing to strike = assault in the eyes of the law.

Medical Attention:

Call 911 immediately after ensuring your safety. Provide basic first aid if safe to do so. Document everything.
